Easy keto cocktail: The Midnight Cowboy

If you’re a keto-er, your definition of “cocktail” is usually limited to some combination of liquor and ice cubes. Or a sugar-free mixer if you’re feeling frisky. But what about those of us who occasionally crave and honest-to-god mixture of multiple ingredients?

I’ll be honest: Normally, I’m good with the ol’ brown liquor over ice deal. No need to overcomplicate things. But with the weather cooling and the holidays approaching, it seemed like the time for something a little more festive, yet still keto-friendly.

Enter the Midnight Cowboy.

It’s simple (just three ingredients), delicious and puts you in mind of that holiday-season staple, egg nog. Only, like, 1,000,000% less labor-intensive. So without further ado, here is the recipe for this easy keto cocktail:


  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • 2 ounces dark rum
  • 1 ounce heavy cream


  • Shake bourbon, rum and cream in a cocktail shaker with ice.
  • Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  • Drink.

It’s the perfect keto alternative to egg nog, whether you’re sitting by a crackling fire celebrating the fact that you stuck to your keto game plan over the holidays or just in need of a shakeup to your regular booze routine. Cheers!
